Emotional intelligence in nurse managers: intervention project
In the last decade, researchers have focused on aspects of intelligence more closely related to emotions and feelings, reinforcing the idea that a person's emotional intelligence may be a better indicator of work and social performance. The concept of emotional intelligence has revolutionized the paradigms of professional success, proving that in, addition to intelligence quotient, interpersonal skills and self-awareness are important in the workplace.
Considering the need to know how to listen, control emotions and manage conflicts, the manager in the organization plays a key role in employee satisfaction and in motivating employees to achieve the organization's goals. It should be noted that the main people responsible for the success or failure of an organization are the people who work there. These people live with emotions and feelings that cannot be ignored in the workplace.
Emotional intelligence is not simply a genetic trait; it can be learned and developed.
We designed a program in which, after determining the level of emotional intelligence perceived by a group of nurse managers and how they use it to change the work context and improve the quality of life of the team, an experimental subgroup and a control subgroup will be created. A training program will be developed for the experimental group to acquire knowledge and develop skills in the area of emotional intelligence. The level of emotional intelligence and its use will then be reassessed.
